ONE | October: Southern Idaho Lifestyle Photographer
Fall has arrived and I couldn't be any more excited.  The air is feeling crisp, the leaves are beginning to turn colors, and the light is becoming magically golden!  It makes for beautiful photographs this time of year.

Featured below is my early morning doorbell ditcher.  Conrad drug that empty laundry basket outside to use as a stool all by himself.  Independent and resourceful are great qualities... except when you're about two, then it's not so great.  Haha.  But I couldn't resist grabbing my camera and running outside in my pajamas to capture this stunning dappled light!

Fall family sessions are in full swing right now!  I am currently booked every weekend from now through October and it is a wonderful feeling.  It's hard to call what I do work; I feel so lucky.  I mean, I get to hang out with fun families in pretty places at just the right time of day when the light is golden.  It's a blast.  This family was my first full session of the season.  Five kids.  The more the merrier!  It was so easy to feel their love for one another.

Here we go!  Summer is officially over and I'm jumping feet first in to family photography sessions.  Fall is by far my busiest season for this little photo business of mine.  The leaves, the sweaters, the colors... it's all fantastic.  Will I be seeing you by chance in the next two months for pictures?

In other news, we finished off a summer chuck full of sunshine, water, and outdoor fun visiting my dad in California for his 60th birthday.  This is a shot of Levi feeding seagulls from the bow of his boat that he's currently restoring.  We had so much fun on that trip.

Now my two big boys, Jed and Levi, are in school.  They started 3rd and 1st grades this week.  I'll be honest.  I always struggle at the beginning of the school year.  My kids are suddenly gone for 8 hours of the day (I miss them!) and life speeds up to 100mph as we squish their activities, homework, and dinner in before bed at 8pm.  On the other hand, the good news is that I get to settle in to a routine that includes plenty of one-on-one time with my littlest man, Conrad.

It's going to be a good year.  I can feel it.

Extended Family Session: Southern Idaho Family Photographer

Extended Family Session: Southern Idaho Family Photographer
Summer sessions are where it's at!  The sun is bright, the air is warm, everyone's skin is sunkissed, and the world is green.  Extended family sessions can feel intimidating.  But I'll be honest, they are starting to grow on me, especially when it turns into five mini sessions.  Family is such a beautiful complicated mix.  I enjoy meeting my clients and getting to know them a bit.  Every family has a story.  And every family deserves to remember life as it is now... in all its perfect imperfectness.

I'm still on one of those natural highs, one that came from spending two nights backpacking way up in the Sawtooth mountains with a great group of people.  Wow.  Just wow.  I'm still picking my jaw up from off the floor.  "Is nature really that incredible that it would make me feel this way?" I asked my husband when I got home.  He says he thinks it is.

Our first night up there happened to be a moonless clear night.  I couldn't believe my luck.  I rented a 20mm lens just for the occasion: I wanted to photograph the stars!  I rolled out of my hammock around 11:30PM, drank some water and downed some ibuprofen for a headache, and then carefully and quietly wandered the campsite with my headlamp, tripod, and camera.  The stars were absolutely incredible.  Countless stars.  The only word I can think to describe what I saw was awe-inspiring.  As the night wore on and became darker, the stars actually started reflecting off the lake water!  It was gorgeous.  I have no doubt there is a God.
